[UP] Market: MyAir and SkyEurope join forces to become the fourth biggest airline in Europe 6

Because I’ve started receive comments on this old post i have made it up to date.
The Italian low-cost carrier Myair and the Slovakian based low cost airline SkyEurope sign an agreement to form in the short future an alliance that will transform them in the fourth player on the low-cost aviation market in Europe.
According to a press release from Myair, Flyholding – the holding company of Myair and SkyEurope Holding, the holding company of SkyEurope Airlines announced that they have jointly entered into a protocol agreement to immediately commence an operating partnership between Myair and SkyEurope Airlines and explore an eventual strategic alliance.
The new alliance with Myair should help SkyEurope to fix the company financial problems. SkyEurope has been posting losses in both raports presented this year, and last year.
The alliance should help both of the companies to achieve lower prices when purchasing prices of services and fuel.
The companies will start selling each other’s tickets on their websites till the end of this year and will also use each other’s planes. Some airline market analysts says that SkyEurope’s Boeings will be used on the routes were both companies face a high seat demand, and the small CRJ900 of Myair will be used on the routes were are less passengers. Myair Airbuses could be leased in order to get extra cash for the new company operations (this information has not been confirmed by any of the two airlines).
The aim of this alliance is to create the fourth biggest low-cost airline in Europe, after Ryanair, easyJet and AirBerlin. SkyEurope head Jason Bitter said that the two cooperating airlines will play a bigger role on the European market than the one played till now.
Need to know
Friday, LTE International Airways – a charter airline based in Palma di Maiorca, Spain – ceased operation due to financial problems. The company, that own 7 aircraft Airbus 320 was part of MyAir Group, the same that owns Myair.
On the European market other companies that merged this year: Vueling and Clickair (both Spanish airlines) and Condor, TUIfly and Germanwings (all German airlines) are still in talks for merging.

In February SkyEurope has cancelled the flight Manchester-Birmingham on July 19, which I booked on January 4. On March 23-rd I asked SkyEurope for refund in the amount of EUR 137.00. On May 7-th the Reservation Agent informed me that they have processed my refund request, it was forwarded to the financial department on April 15-th and the refundable amount will be credited back to my card account within the next 4-6 weeks. Nobody contacted me since that time and they are not replying for my further complaints. THEY ARE REALLY IN DEEP FINANCIAL TROUBLE!
Unfortunately Andriy they are in some troubles. Hopefully – from my point of view – they will get better. I like their services – flown a lot with them from Bucharest or Naples to Bratislava or Vienna and never got disappointed. I had one single delay (in more than 20 round trips) of 3 hours due weather conditions in Bratislava. Buw we will see what is going to happen in spring next year, when they will finish with being protected against creditors actions.
The airline is not only in deep trouble, they start to screw up poeple. I asked before I booked if there an delay. They said no, why? Because last monday when I was fying with them we had an delay of 5 hours. I arrived in Bucharest at 3 o clock. So no night. After I booked there was an announcement on the internet-site of Vienna airport of an delay of 5 hours. Then I went asking for my money back, They refused. So now I have to wait another 10 hours for the fight. They are really crewing up poeple. Who is going to something about it, what to do please reply.
My flight is friday july 14th from Bucharest to Vienna
@henri: I am sorry to hear that SkyEurope caused you troubles. I have a good opinion about this airline: I like their services, their planes and I really enjoy to fly with them. I had only one canceled flight, from Vienna to Bucharest. But then was heavy snow storm in Bucharest. We got a room paid by the airline in NH Hotel at Vienna Airport and meals for free also.
I experimented also a 3 hours of delay, but sometimes it’s just not their fault.
Now… I dont understand exactly from were the delays are coming… because all their planes are flying and most routes are operated on time or with a maximum one hour of delay.
How long before the travel you booked the ticket? If you booked 2 – 3 days in advance they could not know if there will be a delay or not. If you booked in the morning of the traveling day they should have known about the delay and they didn’t said that to you.
I hope that the flight back will be ok. It’s on July 17th, not 14th right?
I’ve checked now… the flight today from Vienna to Bucharest is delayed with 4 hours. So, same delay for the back flight.
